The Zoo Museum District is an excellent investment by citizens in both quality of life and the economic vitality of the region – an investment that will benefit current residents and future generations for years to come. The five District institutions not only provide vitality to the St. Louis region’s quality of life, but they have a strong impact on its economy.

The institutions are significant employers and are fantastic attractions that draw out-of-town visitors. Based on their 2017 Economic Impact Study, the St. Louis Regional Chamber estimates that the Zoo Museum District and its five institutions’ operating and capital spending, along with spending by visitors, had a total regional economic impact of $589.4 million and was responsible for 4,845 jobs within the region.

The influence of the District and its member institutions on our community’s quality of life and our region’s economic well-being is enormous. These institutions now have an economic impact of more than half a billion dollars each year in the St. Louis region.
